About Heron

More than 25 years leading operations and change.

I have spent more than 25 years leading people through complex operational environments, from frontline community services through to executive operations, technology transformation and regulated service delivery. That means I understand the pressure of making the operation work—not simply advising from the sidelines.

Trent Murray, Founder

From the front line to the boardroom.

I began in frontline community services, then moved into regional leadership of multi-site, 24/7 operations spanning 18 teams and around 250 employees. I later served as Group Operations Manager and Executive Director of a national financial services group with more than 160 staff, with responsibility across operations, technology, governance, compliance, marketing, project delivery and staff development.

I’ve also founded technology and automation businesses and worked directly with owners across financial services, accounting, law, health, childcare, NDIS, not-for-profits, property and SaaS.

That range matters because operational problems rarely sit neatly inside one function. A people problem may begin with workflow design. A technology problem may begin with an unclear process. Poor performance may be reinforced by weak reporting, uncertain accountability or too many decisions staying with the owner.

As a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner with Lean Six Sigma training, I connect diagnosis, solution design and implementation so the change can work in the real business—not just on paper.
Why work with Trent

What that experience brings to your business

I understand the pressure of being responsible for the result—not simply recommending what somebody else should do. That shapes how I diagnose problems, design projects, involve the team and deliver changes that can operate in the real business.

Experience at different levels of scale

I've led large, multi-site operations and national business functions, and worked closely with privately owned businesses where resources are tighter and the owner is still central to daily decisions.

Technology without the sales agenda

Technology and automation are considered in the context of the operating problem. Recommendations are based on what the business needs, not on a particular product, platform or licence.

Implementation support

The work doesn't have to stop at diagnosis. Heron can redesign workflows, clarify responsibilities, establish reporting, coordinate suppliers, introduce automation and support the people affected by the change.

Capability that stays behind

The objective is to leave the business clearer, more capable and less dependent — not to create an ongoing reliance on a consultant.

Heron brought fresh eyes to our operations. They helped us get to the root of several recurring, high-impact issues, then worked closely with our team to implement lasting improvements.
